Teddy Welch, Sr.
Growing up, Ted Welch had a desire to learn how to really make money and make it work for you. After earning a BBA in marketing with a minor in finance from Valdosta State University and working as a business professional for several years, Ted started his financial planning career. In 2003, Ted formed Strategic Wealth Group, LLC.
In 2013, Jay Joiner became an integral part of Strategic Wealth Group. During this time, Ted was serving in the mission field in Nicaragua. While in Nicaragua, Ted saw two oxen plowing a field. Ted and Jay had been friends for years, but it wasn’t until later while reading scripture that Ted truly realzied that the two men could accomplist so much more together than alone, just like the oxen he had seen. This was the catalyst to forming a strategic partnership between Ted and Jay.
Today, Ted and Jay are partners in Strategic Wealth Group, LLC, located in Valdosta and Albany Georgia. Their practice focuses on evaluating the efficeicny of their clients’ current financial situation. They enjoy teaching clients about wealth maximation strategies, tax planning strategies, leveraging their assets, and legacy planning (asset transfer). Their target markets are business owners/executives, medical and dental physicians and agricultural/land owners.
Outside of work, Ted and his wife, Sherri, have two children, Teddy and Addison. Teddy joined Strategic Wealth in January 2016 after graduating with his Bachelors Degree in Finance from Valdosta State University. Ted and Sherri enjoy running, Florida State football, traveling and spending time with family. They are active in their church and love sharing their faith in Jesus Christ.
James L. Joiner IV (Jay)
Growing up on a farm in South Georgia, Jay Joiner learned values and developed relationships that shaped him into who he is today. After graduating from Valdosta State University with a degree in marketing, Jay knew he wanted to build a career with and around the people he cared so much about.
In July of 1999, Jay began working with New York Life. It was there that he was taught the basics of financial planning and the importance of working with a team. With help from his mentor, Warren Budd, Jay began focusing primarily on business succession and estate planning. As Jay’s business continued to grow, so did his clients- which is when he decided he needed to grow his team.
In 2010, Jay formed a great friendship with Ted Welch, who later became his partner at Strategic Wealth Group. Their partnership is unique because it is directly tied to their Christian belief system. They see this profession as a great way to be a servant leader and really help people achieve their goals and dreams.
When Jay is not working, he spends as much time as he can with his family. He and his Wife, Lyndsey, have two boys, Hudson and Jackson. They are active in their church and love spending time at their farm. Jay is most passionate about his faith, family and friends.
Timothy L. Bonner
Sales Manager & Investment Advisor
After working full time to put himself through college, Tim Bonner graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance with an emphasis in Accounting from Valdosta State University. He did not begin his career in financial services right away. Instead, he ventured into the medical device market where he spent much of his professional career working for two fortune 500 companies in sales and management, earning numerous awards and reaching President’s Club on several occasions.
After years of success, Tim ultimately decided to leave the medical device market and rejoin the world of business and finance at New York Life and NYLife Securities. Under the tutelage of his mentor and friend, Jay Joiner, Tim came out of the blocks strong reaching Executive Council for New York Life in his very first year. During his time at New York Life, Tim met and began to do joint work with many of the advisors he now trusts and relies on for their varied expertise at Strategic Wealth Group.
Tim works mainly with professionals and business owners implementing tax reduction strategies, retirement planning, and business continuation planning. He loves to dig into the details of a client’s tax return or business agreement to find how they can save money or eliminate a liability. As the firm’s sales manager, Tim is also responsible for many of the administrative functions of the company- like new advisor training, coaching, and recruiting. Business and helping people has always been his passion.
Tim is an adoring family man with 2 active teenagers. He and his wife Breanne have just had a beautiful baby daughter to add to the family. The Bonners are active members of First United Methodist Church where Tim serves on the Board of Trustees. Tim also serves as a Board member of the Anchorage, a Christian based drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility in Albany, GA.
James R. Boyd, Sr. (Ryan)
Ryan Boyd came home to Albany, GA after graduating from Mercer University in 2002 to work in the family contracting business. During this time Ryan learned valuable lessons on the inner workings of business. During this time, he gained extensive experience in project management, contract negotiations, legal issues, and business management. He learned how rewarding it can be to run a business built from the ground up and also how unforgiving and it can be as well.
Ryan learned that any successful construction project takes analysis, planning, resource allocation, and follow through- he uses this same approach with each of his financial planning clients now. Ryan began his financial services career with New York Life before moving to Strategic Wealth Group in 2014. Ryan takes time to understand his client’s unique situation, offers a plan to achieve the client’s goal, and cares enough to educate the client on the solution that is being implemented.
The cornerstone of Ryan’s business is in employee benefits, business planning, and individual retirement planning. His focus is in “comprehensive planning with emphasis on retirement plans.
Ryan and his wife Sally have a 3 year old son, James, and are expecting a daughter, Jean, in May 2016. Outside of work Ryan is an active member of his church and the Dougherty Family Literacy Connection Board.
Steven R. Pope (Ryan)
Financial Services Representative
Ryan Pope was introduced to the business world long before he realized he would one day be a part of it. Most weekends during his childhood, you could find him walking the fairways with his dad and his business partners. While he was mastering his golf game he was also really beginning to understand the significance of relationships and how much they can impact your life.
Ryan was offered several golf scholarships but ultimately decided to stay close to home and attend Darton College State University where he received a degree in business administration and a certificate in accounting. He then moved to Valdosta, GA and began a career in transportation as a quality inspector. Ryan moved back to Albany, Ga and 9 months later he and his wife Ashlee had their first child. It was then that Ryan felt the call to get into the finance world. Ryan’s father had been in this industry for most of his career and introduced Ryan to the brightest minds in the area. After getting advice from several leaders in the industry, Ryan began his financial career with New York Life.
In Ryan’s first year he received the Thomas Flournoy Award for top young producer, made executive council, and earned several other honors. In November of 2014, Ryan left New York Life to join Strategic Wealth Group where he made the leaders council in his first year and helped to develop some of their young talent. His specialized areas of practice are personal planning, college funding, and employee benefits. He finds helping someone put a plan together that protects all of their dreams very rewarding.
Ryan and Ashlee live in Leesburg, GA with their two boys, Riles and Britt. They attend Providence Church in Albany, GA. Ryan still enjoys playing golf, so when he’s not spending time with his wife and kids, you can find him on the golf course…. or cheering on the Georgia Bulldawgs!
Managing Associate & Financial Services Representative
Eric Dellinger joined Strategic Wealth Group as a financial services representative in 2014. With over eight years of experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his role. A strong desire to help others and his diverse background enable him to help clients pursue their long-term financial goals through comprehensive, individualized retirement strategies.
Before he began his career as a financial advisor, Eric studied Economics at Georgia Southern University. After graduation, he started working as a new home consultant for Plantation Builders in Leesburg, Georgia which initially sparked his interest in the area of property and casualty insurance. In 2008, Eric pursued an opportunity with Alfa Insurance and was eventually recognized as a top property and casualty agent, as well as a life and health agent, in Georgia. After four years, his passion for life insurance planning and working closely with his clients led him to pursue a career as a financial representative. He began with New York Life in 2012 and joined with Strategic Wealth Group and Mass Mutual in 2014
Helping people, whether it’s planning for retirement or college expenses, is truly Eric’s passion. In addition to developing a custom retirement strategy for each client, he conducts regular meetings with clients to review performance, reconfirm financial goals and make adjustments as economic or lifestyle conditions warrant. Growing up and living in the Albany and Leesburg area has allowed Eric to build genuinely strong and lasting relationships.
Eric and his wife, Nikki, reside in Leesburg, GA and are expecting twin boys. They enjoy traveling, fishing, and good food. As often as he can, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family who continuously serve as his greatest inspiration.
Paul L. Bridges III (Tripp)

The road to Strategic Wealth Group was full of twists and turns for Tripp Bridges. He grew up in the small town of Brinson, GA surrounded by some of the most successful farmers in the United States and started working in agriculture at a very young age. During college at Georgia Southwestern he did a little bit of everything, from waiting tables to selling wholesale electrical supplies- even finishing concrete. It was not until after college that Tripp found his calling to be an advisor. By working in so many different environments, Tripp gained the ability to relate to people from all walks of life. He believes that is a big reason for his success in financial planning.
Tripp joined the financial services industry after the owner of the farm he was managing at the time tragically died from brain cancer. It was then that he learned first-hand the importance of estate planning and he became obsessed with protecting the farm lifestyle. Tripp began his career with one of the largest life insurance companies in the world, earning many different insurance and investment licenses. In his first year he was named the Rookie of the Year and received many other accolades. He was able to learn from some of the best planners in the business, which greatly helped in accelerating his career.
One of the founding members of Strategic Wealth Group, Tripp devotes his time helping entrepreneurs plan for the unique challenges life presents. His goal? To help his clients keep their promises.
Outside of work Tripp and his wife Katie enjoy traveling, spending time with family, and going to Florida State games… That is, when he isn’t out in the woods. Tripp’s parents raised him to do three things: love Jesus, work harder and smarter than most, and to always do what you say you’re going to do. They are members of First Baptist Church of Colquitt, GA.
